The drive from CA to OK had been seamless and we rolled into Oklahoma City on Thursday, June 30th. We had enjoyed fun pit stops in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, but now the real FUN was here!
Rob and I are detailed oriented and we enjoyed planning this trip for our red head immensely. There were t-shirts, car magnets, info cards for Dylan to hand out to people and a fun itinerary with some extras! July 1st was the day we felt like we were REALLY putting that plan into full-fledged action.
We arrived at the park full of excitement and anticipation. We were the 1st through the gates and a few staff quickly noticed our shirts and Dylan was eager to hand out his info cards. When they dropped the rope to fully open the park, we headed to our first ride of the day! Things were off to a fantastic start!
As we exited that first ride, we were approached by a gentleman who was a Six Flags employee. I gave him a card and gave him a quick recap of why we were there. He was excited to have us! A short while later, two additional Six Flags employees approached us and shared that if needed anything, to please reach out. They asked if we’d like complimentary drink bottles - we had ours, but how amazing! They proceeded to comp the only ride that requires payment.
We figured people in the parks would notice us, but never imagined this sweet attention. The day moved forward. Dylan and Rob rode lots of rides and enjoyed the shows while I spend a large portion of the day at the water park area with Lincoln and Savannah.
Lincoln isn’t a huge coaster fan and when he learned he’d be coming on the trip, he was concerned. The original 2020 trip was set to include just Dylan, Rob and Jeremy. But life evolved and the 2022 trip include Dylan, Rob, Lincoln, Savannah and myself.
Knowing Lincoln wasn’t a huge fan of coasters, we had shared that each park had a water park. He and I would spend the majority of our time staying cool and enjoying this aspect! Savannah could pop back and forth as she wanted! It was a win-win for all!
That 1st day had been full and Dylan was tired. We had decided that we didn’t have to stay until closing, rather let Dylan decide when it was time to head out - this was HIS trip! As we began working our way out of the park, we were once again approached by Six Flags employees. Come to find out, that very first gentleman that had approached first thing was the president of the park. Trevor was such a sweet, humble guy! He and fellow staff had pulled together a gift basket for Dylan and wanted to present it to him. We were truly blown away. We met up, Dylan received their sweet gift and we took some fun pictures!
As we loaded into the car and headed back to the hotel, we were overwhelmed with how phenomenal the day had been. We were all exhausted, but our hearts were full.
Two parks down, eleven to go! St. Louis was up next!
